Bad software. Antsy IMers. Equality for boys and girls.

[I'm posting again already. I'm on vacations still, so that explains that.]

I'm tired of bad software. I've had it with Windows popping up a window nobody asked for on top of what I'm working on, so that I'll end up typing in the wrong space, and things of that sort. Programs that crash, leak memory; uninstallers that leave lots of crap on your computer, leading to the "every once in a while" format of the HD and reinstallation of the OS.

I study Information Systems Engineering. In every team, the person that says that programming is nice and all but the soft should also be thoroughly tested before it's turned in for evaluation, is the idiot. At college I'm surrounded by people that take pride in programming, don't care about organizing, and clearly have no respect for software users. I imagine in companies the population is not too different. Someday one angry user is going to betatest their asses with a broomstick, and maybe that'll make them think twice before releasing something they've barely tried, because clearly the satisfaction of a job well done is not something that motivates them.

Another thing I'm very tired of are people that think instant messaging is an activity in itself. The way I see it, it belongs on the side. You're doing something on your computer (reading the news, writing a paper, downloading something, playing a game, etc), and you're logged on to some IM service in case anybody needs anything ("are you free tonight?", "do you have Ana's phone number?", "I'm bored at work", whatever). We've all been just sitting there chatting the night away, we do it from time to time, but why do people assume it's the normal way to use IM? Each time some nimrod sends me a motherfucking nudge on MSN (IM for retards), it makes me want to scream into their ears, and tap them on the shoulder constantly next time I meet them in person. I'm doing something else!!! I'm not going to immediately put what I'm doing on hold to read what you have to say (because it's probably "LOL"). If you want that kind of attention, call me. I swear, I have a phone. If you're the one that's doing nothing but chatting and it bores you when I don't answer right away.. get a clue, find something else to do. Some people get so antsy on IM that all they've accomplished is leading me to not sign on anything all week. How's that for a delay in my response?

Here's a very interesting post, short, and I quote a phrase that sums it up: “hemos comenzado a criar a nuestras hijas igual que a nuestros hijos... pero pocas tenemos el coraje de criar a nuestros hijos igual que a nuestras hijas”.
