I love coffee. Good coffee. Still, I love my body more, as the executive branch of my being that it is, so I'm glad I read this. And I felt like pointing it out to others.
I feel this guy is a bit of an extremist. Which I can understand and respect; after all, he's trying to convince people of taking better care of themselves and that often requires exaggeration. Personally, I'm going to tone down his advice a little, and no, I won't stop drinking coffee. I like it too damn much.
I don't believe recommending moderation is a fallacy, but whatever. And when he mentions "the harmful by-products of fermentation and putrefaction", let me just point out that fermentation and putrefaction are part of a normal digestion. Si mal no recuerdo, parte de la flora bacteriana del intestino se llama flora de fermentación, y la otra mitad, flora de putrefacción. Yeah, that's what happens inside of you every day, and you're alive thanks to that. For what I was told in school, having both types of bacteria is good and normal, and I've never heard otherwise. Let me know if you have.
I won't desert coffee, but I have gone from two cups a day, to one cup on weekedays, to one or half a cup every few days. Adding milk, drinking cappuccino's instead, etc. 'Cause as much as I love it, I accept it's not good, and this article made me feel like stretching the effort to lower my caffeine intake a bit more. But as I said, I won't stop drinking. I don't care for living more if I don't get to enjoy things I like, and I usually find a lot of truth in saying that what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.
